1. Our Vision

We are not yet there, and we know that Sustainability is a journey. At Shanrod Africa, we believe travel should empower local communities, protect biodiversity, and inspire cultural appreciation. We are committed to creating unforgettable safari experiences while safeguarding the natural and cultural heritage of Africa for future generations.

2. Our Core Sustainability Commitments

Community Empowerment: We partner with indigenous communities to co-create cultural experiences as they are the custodians of their traditions. Shanrod Africa is 100% Ugandan-owned and operated, so, we prioritize local employment and fair wages for our guides and staff. We also support community-based tourism projects and educational initiatives.

Environmental Protection: At Shanrod Africa, we operate low-impact safaris with minimal waste and emissions where possible by offering and encouraging other alternatives, collaborating with eco-lodges, camps and green-certified partners in the areas where we operate, and encourage and educate travelers to respect wildlife and habitats. We are also part of initiatives like Climate Friendly.

♻️ Responsible Resource Use: At Shanrod Africa, we minimize single-use plastics and promote reusable alternatives used by both staff and our guests. We also do our best to optimize route planning to reduce vehicle emissions as well as promote digital documents over printed materials.

✈️ Sustainable Travel Education: We brief all guests on responsible behavior in nature and host communities, share educational content on conservation and cultural sensitivity, and highlight our sustainability actions in marketing and operations.

3. Our Sustainable Supply Chain

We work (where possible) with suppliers who adhere to fair labor and environmental practices, demonstrate ethical treatment of animals and respect local customs, and are transparent and willing to evolve toward greener standards.
